Through our partnership with Girard Gibbs, a leader in class action suits in the United States, Lazareff Le Bars has developed specialized expertise in the area of class actions. Although new to French law, we are able to draw on the decades of experience of other jurisdictions where such procedural means are used, to help clients define their strategic approach to the disputes they are confronted with, while allowing them to apprehend risks of potential class actions, by deploying organizational solutions that are adapted to large-scale litigation.
We assist groups and businesses in implementing strategies for litigation, but also in the analysis of their internal organization. In particular, we put in place solutions to avoid and mitigate risk of litigation, and help structure the legal department’s role within the organization, to best anticipate this new breed of collective risk.
Benoit Le Bars is the author of an award-winning thesis on shareholder and investor protection associations (“Associations de défense d’actionnaires et d’investisseurs”) which already addressed such methods of class action in France and abroad, before the 2014 reform was adopted. He appeared as an expert before the parliamentary working group that was at the origin of the adoption of class action mechanisms in France.
